Images That Capture the Soul and Heart
Concept Development & Ideation
Much like our video production process, Speck of Dust views photography as a vehicle for storytelling.
Through powerful composition and intentional processing, we aim to capture an authentic feeling in every image that we produce. Ranging from landscape shots to intimate portraits, we pride ourselves on our ability to find sincerity in the most unlikely places.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of photography does Speck of Dust shoot?
We shoot photography as its own form of storytelling, built around composition and intentional processing rather than snapshots. Our work ranges from landscape shots to intimate portraits, and stretches into event photography and content creation photography for live events and campaigns across Sydney. Every image is made to hold an authentic feeling, the same aim that drives our documentary video work.
Can you shoot photography on the same day as a video shoot?
Yes. We often capture stills during the same shoot as the video, in Sydney or wherever the production takes us, rather than scheduling a separate day. On our documentary work with Koori Country Cultural Fire, stills captured alongside the film were used for grant reporting and promotion, so combining photography and video is proven and practical rather than an add-on we are guessing at.
What sectors do you shoot photography for?
We photograph for the same sectors we make video for: not-for-profit and education organisations, health services, Indigenous-led organisations and corporate teams, alongside live events across Sydney and Australia. The same story-first approach that shapes our documentary films carries across every sector, so a portrait or an event photograph gets the same attention as a frame from a shoot.
How are the images delivered, and in what formats?
We deliver every image as a high-resolution digital file, in the format your team needs, whether that is for print, web or social use. Images are shared for review through Frame.io, the same platform we use for video, so approval and feedback stay in one place. Once approved, the final files are yours to keep and use.
Who owns the photographs once the project is delivered?
On full payment, you get a licence to use the final images we deliver for the purpose set out in your quote, such as reporting, promotion or your other communications. Speck of Dust holds copyright in the photographs, and the unedited shots and source files stay with us as standard. If you would like those released too, we can quote for that separately, and full copyright assignment can also be arranged as a separate written term.
